*I am so sorry for going away but after my South Africa Trip life sort of became a blur. Please forgive me!!*
If you are not and you have not started, now is the time! Plus the shows have started so why would you not start working on your own closet.
According to recent NYFW Fall 2015 lines, the return of the 1960's is here to stay. From Tracey Reese (LOVE HER) to Barbara Tfank to BCBG Max Azria. It appears that once again, 60's mod will be the hottest trend to be on your bod this Fall 15'. With nicely tailored pieces, geometric and tribal-western patterns, fur, leather, and slightly over sized items, i'm ready for fall and here is how you can get ready too!
1) WATCH THE SHOWS!- Tons of designers and fashion houses showcase their shows and new designs via live internet feeds. (I watched Tom Ford's show last fall) As you watch the shows, pick out the designs or designer collections you like.
2)GOOGLE 1960'S- That's right Google 1960's and not just 1960's fashion. This way you can pull inspiration from everything including fashion, movies, ads, and just everything.
3)PICK AN ICON or ICONS!-Personally I choose the wonderful Twiggy! Everything about her is 1960's! After you pick an icon think about how you can make the style your own or more modern and custom to fit your actual personal style.
4) BUY THE PIECES! (you've got three options)- [1] Baller Status!- You can buy your pieces straight from the run way or fashion houses [2] Semi-Baller Status- You can mix and match pieces from the runway with thrifted pieces, and [3] Fake-it-to-you-make-it Status-Thrift like your fashion life depends on it! Well, that or pray that your mom and aunts have not thrown away all of their pieces! Thrift stores are a great place to start and finish considering that you can find vintage pieces including designer for little to nothing!
Follow these four steps and you could have a closet to challenge some of the great!
Until next time,
Sincerely Miko!

Wear What You Want!
So I have never done a discussion blog post before but I really want people to comment on this one and tell me their opinion on it. This discussion is based on something that I am guilty but I am challenging myself to change that this year.
Recently I was in a TJ Maxx clothing store and a girl (we will name her K) picked up a couple pieces for her friend (we will name her P),however her friend immediately shut down the idea of even trying the clothing on because she said that she doesn't like the way her legs look in things that go above the knee. Of course her friend K looked disappointed but she agreed to go find some other pieces that her friend P would wear. Now me still being nosy, couldn't help but notice that P picked up the first items and starred at them for quite a while. This to me clearly signifies that she really wanted to try to the clothes on but was to afraid.
As I mentioned above, in the past years I have have been guilty of this by pretty much shying away from anything that showed my arms. When I was ages 6-11 years old I LOVED showing my arms but then something happened, I just stopped liking them. Therefore I didn't want the world to see them either. Then last year around March the desire to show my arms came back as I became more obsessed with fashion. In my opinion there are just to many amazing, beautiful, artistic pieces of clothing out there for me to shy away from some just because I dislike something about my body. After I finally broke down and got a Polyvore account I became obsessed with it because it is the closet I dream of hour by the hour but it helped me realize something: One day that closet will be my reality (budget willing) and after years of waiting for it I don't want to turn down wearing any piece for any reason other than it just being COMPLETELY UNFLATTERING TO MY BODY. I don't want my insecurities to stop me from anything and that includes wearing clothing I LOVE. I want to wear what I want and I encourage you to do the same. Beyonce launched a campaign #WhatIsPretty and I believe that when someone lets go of their insecurities and finally wears what they want IS #PRETTY...NO ABSOLUTELY #BEAUTIFUL
Please let me know you thoughts, if you have been found in a similar situation and how you over came it.
Until my next post, wear what YOU want! Forever, MIKO!
